Sunday, May 28: We headed out to Lowes to pick up more supplies, and when we got back, this had happened to the front of the coach. By the time we got a camera, the crack had spread nearly to the bottom of the dash. The crack was initiated from the top corner, drivers side. When it happened, the coach was on auto level, we hadn’t driven it on the highway, it hadn’t moved in over 2 days.
I used to work at an automotive shop (in a previous life) and knew instantly that this was a stress crack brought on by pressure around the windshield. Turns out, even though we researched Monaco Windsor like crazy before we bought it, the windshield cracking under pressure is a known Monaco problem.
We’ve contacted Monaco via their website and will chat with High River Autoplex about it to see if the previous owners experienced something similar in the 13 years they owned it.
These issues are bound to happen and are generally solvable… it’s just about finding an affordable solution that we’re interested in!
